Determine which Toner Cartridge is empty and have a new replacement cartridge ready.
Rotate the Toner Cartridge carousel to move the required Toner Cartridge to the exchange position for replacement. To rotate the carousel:
Press the [Toner Cartridge Change] button on the Control Panel to enter the Replace Mode. NOTE: 'CAUTION' will be displayed on the top line of the Display Screen while the printer is in Replace Mode.
After a moment, the bottom line of the Display Screen will display 'Replace C Toner'. If necessary, press the [Toner Cartridge Change] button until the message for the required color (C - Cyan, M - Magenta, Y - Yellow, or K - Black) is displayed.
If there is paper in the Output Tray, remove it. Press in on the Output Tray to retract the extended portion, and then press the release button to allow the tray to collapse to the down position.
Pull on the gray latch on the right, underside of the Scan Unit to release and then raise the Scan Unit to the upright position. CAUTION: Do not touch the surface of the Transfer Belt, located on the bottom side of the Top Cover. A scratched or dirty Transfer Belt can result in image quality problems.
Pull up on the gray handle in the center, front of the Top Cover to release the latch, and then lift the cover until it rests in the raised position.
Open the Front Cover and confirm that the correct color Toner Cartridge to be replaced has rotated to the exchange position. CAUTION: Do not manually rotate the Toner Cartridge carousel. The Toner Cartridge gears are designed to move only when unlocked and only in one direction. NOTE: The Toner Cartridge can be identified by the color of the handle and by the letter molded into the handle: C (Cyan), M (Magenta), Y (Yellow) and K (Black).
When the required Toner Cartridge is in position, pull the handle on the cartridge toward you, and then pull the cartridge up to remove it from the machine.
Dispose of the empty cartridge according to local regulations. Prepare and install a new Toner Cartridge:
Hold the new Toner Cartridge horizontally and shake the cartridge up and down a few times to distribute the Toner.
Remove the wrapper and the developer roller cover from the Toner Cartridge. NOTE: Be careful not to touch or scratch the roller.
Align the pins on each end of the Toner Cartridge with the slots in the machine, and then insert the cartridge. 12)Press down on the cartridge until it clicks into place.
Close the Front Cover.
Close the Top Cover.
Gently lower the Scanner Unit and press down until it locks in the closed position.
Raise the Output Tray to the upright position.
Grasp the front of the Output Tray and pull out until the tray is fully extended.
