Buying a Multifunction Copier 401 - Getting The Most Out of Your Investment
This lesson is fairly straightforward, however here are some basic tips that you may or may not be aware of regarding the "post sale" of purchase or lease acquisition.
Know Your Replacement Guarantee or Warranty What happens in the event you get a machine that continually is breaking down above and beyond normal maintenance intervals? Does the vendor offer any replacement policy? If so, what is the time frame for the replacement? Who initiates the change - customer or vendor? All vendors do it differently, know what your customer rights are.
Only Use Genuine Original Equipment Manufacturer Supplies and Parts This may seem very simple to average readers, however it's a bigger problem than you may expect. If you or your service provider use non-OEM parts and supplies to operate your machine there's a very good chance you will violate any sort of warranty.
Less Hands Are Best If at all possible, try to have a "key" person who has responsibility for changing out toner, fusers, developers, etc. Many recurring problems will magically go away; there's no exact science here, but having less is more, and in this case it's no exception.
Have Extra Supplies On Hand Make it a habit to re-order supplies as you replace them. You'll find ownership is much less of a headache, especially during busy periods.
Automation Administration Take advantage of all the great new administration tools available from some vendors. Items that used to be tedious such as meter reads, supplies ordering and machine alerts now can be transmitted automatically. Some vendors even now have the ability to submit service calls online and dispatch the technician within minutes. Ask your supplier what features are available on the machine you have or before acquisition to help with an easier ownership.
